Jill thought about shouting, but she wasn't actually very good at it - her voice was too small. She decided to try jumping up and down.
She jumped and she jumped, jumped again and then twice more.
The ground trembled a little (not much since she was only a small girl), but enough to open a little trap door.
Jill went to the trap door and noticed a sign saying:
To Grandad's Cottage
She clapped her hands, picked up the basket and climbed down the stairs leading from the trap door.
She soon came out onto a different path and there, ahead of her, was the welcoming sight of lights blazing out of her Grandad's cottage windows.
He welcomed her with open arms (well, you would wouldn't you if you were too old to go down the mountain to the village at the bottom) and they spent a very jolly evening together.
However, and this is a big HOWEVER, let us not forget that Jill had the return journey to make the next day. That, though, is a different story altogether.
Moral: If you keep trying you will get there in the end!!!!
(if you want to see where the other turnings led that is!!)
