Miner trouble

Once on a sandy beach in Scotland lived a girl, a lost girl. She had been collecting washed glass off the beach for her grandmother who was ill at the moment.     Now it was dark and she could barely see, the light from her torch had gone she was lost in the dark. She tried to make her way over to the cliff and started to climb up it as she was now the school champion for rock climbing. She knew this was dangerous but she had no other  way of getting back. She climbed and climbed no matter how sleepy she was, she carried on. The girl knew she had almost got to the top so she knew she was pretty high. One maybe two steps to go now but she was still terrified.

"AAaahh!" she screamed, she cried, she couldn't do anything to stop herself she was falling and that was that. She fell with the biggest thump in history maybe breaking an arm or a leg. This was definitely the time that she was stuck there. But hold on she could hear something, "Nah just the wind," she thought.

"Huh could your 'ear some' in?  A cry it sounds like. Mi son," a voice said. There was a slight tilt to his voice a bit spooky sounding. The girl shuddered. She dragged herself over to where the sound was coming from a mine it seemed like. Hang on this can't be right the people she saw were see-through. The girls heart was thumping, see ghosts- can't be possible. maybe she was...DEAD. The man caught sight of her staring at the girl head to toe. This man seemed to be a miner ghost. The girl could see two that's right two miner ghosts staring at her. She looked away. She ran out of the mine (trying) but felt something had caught onto her - an axe. The miner's axe.

Then suddenly, out of the blue came her long lost brother, he died from a mine collapsing years ago but to come out of the blue was a miracle. He came hopefully with a trusty plan. The girl stared at her brother's oilcan and a weird shaped box , she knew he had a plan. He threw over the oil to the girl and she knew she had to spill it. She opened the can and tipped it upside down. "No." she whispered. There was nothing left. She stared at the knife below her feet .The girl picked it up and threw at the ghosts. They ran and ran and disappeared into the weird shaped box it was the end of them. The girl ran up to her ghost brother and hugged him. They smile and he said "I'm always with you," and vanished.

It was morning again and it was bright enough to go home so the girl ran up the hills and cliffs and finally got home. She knocked on the door and her mum cried and gave her the biggest squeeze ever. The girl laughed and shut her eyes. She will always remember that night.
