The Dragon by Jane from Newcastle

Deep in the dark forest lived a dragon who, as well as breathing fire and flame, used a sword very skillfully when attacking passers-by.

All the nearby villagers were very afraid of the dragon and kept well away from his cave, which was quite annoying since you had to go past his cave to get to the local fish and chip shop.  The owners of the local fish and chip shop were quite unhappy too!

Their daughter Jane decided to act.  She armed herself with a very, very long hose from the garden and set off.

The dragon could hear someone coming.  He got ready to leap out, breathing his usual flames and waving his sword about madly.

He stopped dead in his tracks.  He shook his head.  He dropped the sword just as a sloppy, sizzly noise came out of his mouth.  He tried very hard to see the end of his nose to check whether all was well, but could only see a few wisps of grey smoke curling lazily into the sky.

He turned slowly and looked down.  There was Jane, still holding the water hose, smiling gently to herself.  The dragon realised he was soaked from head to toe and rushed home for a hot shower and a nice cup of tea.

Jane picked up the sword and went to the mouth of the cave.

"If you ever, ever, ever try to harm any passerby again," she called "I'LL BE BACK!!"

The dragon never did and the villagers went back to buying fish and chips nearly every night from the, now, very happy owners of the fish and chip shop.
