Drama Workshops

David is a member of Equity. He is currently leader of Dorchester Youth Theatre and has previously run Weymouth & Portland Youth Theatre – producing young peoples work on the main Pavilion Theatre Stage.

 

He has written and directed Young Peoples theatre that has toured as far as Edinburgh fringe Festival (Three times!). David has also written to commission for Dorset Libraries (Adult); Wey Valley Theatre Company (Youth); Royal Manor Theatre (Adult) and DASH. In addition he has written and produces school plays and pantomimes.

 

His workshop experience runs from working as a secondary school drama teacher through school workshops, arts weeks, joint arts projects, Jakes Ladder and a spell backstage with the RSC.

 

Workshop courses are now on offer as follows:

 

1 day:

 

·                    Explore the basic skills of Drama through Improvisation, drama Games and Exercises. (Suitable for KS 2 & 3 – up to 40 students)

 

·                    ‘A Play in a Day!’ Based on an established piece of drama, David workshops his way to a ‘first draft’ performance. (Suitable for KS 2 & 3 – up to 40 students)

 

 

3 Day:

 

·                    Using Drama to explore themes from Citizenship. (Your choice of sub theme from Bullying, Building self esteem, Drug and alcohol issues, Racism, Globalisation, Mother earth & ecology, One World)

(Also suitable for Adult Groups)

 

·                    A Fuller study of Dramatic Technique with reference to both Theory & Practice. (Suitable for Key Stage 4 and Post 16)

 

·                    Group Improvisation that leads to a ‘workshop’ performance (Suitable for KS 4 GCSE)

 

 

5 Day :

 

·                    Aim is to produce a full presentation/show based upon pupil input.
