Oral History Volume 3 - Tales that Hardy missed!

Thomas Hardy collected tales and stories throughout Dorset and beyond – cycling countless miles in the process. He avidly followed the oddities and items in local newspapers and used all he found in his novels, plays and short stories. – The horse through a window in Tess; Tales from the military encampment in Melancholy Hussar; the visiting fair in Day / Year After the Fair and a hanging – his most memorable experience as a child – in Withered Arm
