TELLING TO YOUNG PEOPLE
Children love to tell stories; it is the way in which we share the tales of our lives, history and culture. It is how we give context to and frame our experience. And it is fun! The process of listening to, remembering and re-telling stories enhances every facet of a child’s development. It helps develop language and listening skills; breeds vocal confidence and performance skill; develops the imagination; spurs the memory; aids visualisation and interpretative skills and is valuable in problem solving and consciousness raising. Storytelling can be used across the curriculum to elaborate on themes and activities. It is the stuff of dreams.
