Effective storytelling performance skills are demonstrated through:

Vocal Skills

  • The teller uses appropriate volume, employs clear enunciation, and uses non-monotonous vocal expression.

Facial expression

  •  The teller uses appropriate facial gesture to clarify or
  •  complement the text
  •                

Body Language

  • The teller uses appropriate non-verbal communication to clarify or exemplify
  • meaning. The teller makes clear spatial relationship between characters and
  • narrator.

 

Placement

  • The teller uses space to give a definite place to objects used and imagined.

Focus

  • Concentration is clear. The teller makes direct eye contact with all members of the audience. A definite stage presence is demonstrated.

 

Characterisation

  • Dialogue is employed and the tellers voice and body language is apposite.

Pace & Time

  • The teller presents the story efficiently and holds the listeners attention throughout.
