THE
WITCH OF THE
WOODS
BY GEMMA
Fernhill was a lovely island off the coast of south England.
There was only one village on the island called Fernsdale. With no more then 30
little cottages, all backing on to the beach, with views to die for. All the men
grew crops in the nearby fields. There were a couple of small shops, a post
office and a tiny school.
Everyone got on and was happy, but they had a big problem, an old green
smelly witch. She had been living in the woods on top of fern hill for about,
well no one knew how long she had been there for. Everyday she would come out of
the woods and pinch a small boy from the school. Many people had tried to catch
her or kill her, many of them killed themselves doing so.
Then she started taking more. The villagers held a meeting at the village
hall. All the men said they would go up into the woods and kill her. So the next
night they grabbed their farming tools and torches and kissed their wife’s and
kids goodbye and left. They went though the fields across the stream and came to
the edge of the woods. It was cold and very very dark. The oldest farmer led
them into the woods. After about 20 minutes tracking they found a hut.”This
must be it come on,” shouted one of the men. So they went up to the door and
knocked. The witch hated people who came to her hut, especially when she was
cooking frog’s legs and bats eyes for her tea.
“WHAT!” She shouted, they jumped back. The men tried to stab her but
she reached into her hut and pulled out a special powder and turned most of the
men into frogs and bats for her tea. The rest of the men ran back to the village
so sacred they nearly wet themselves!
Mrs
Poppy was one of the oldest ladies in the village, no one liked her because she
smelt and she tried to take over the village sweetshop once. Mrs Poppy lived on the hill in a small cottage. Many people
through she was a sister of the witch, but she wasn’t.
Then
one day she came up with a plan to get rid of the witch. Her plan was to try and
make friends with her, and make her move to the other end of the island. So the
next day she went up the hill into the woods and talked to the witch they soon
became friends. But then Mrs Poppy said that the witch shouldn’t eat kids and
the witch chucked her out. So the
little old lady thought some more and went back the next day .This time with a
shot gun in her hand. She knocked on the door again. The witch came to the door
and said hello . Mrs Poppy pointed the gun and, BANG BANG the witch was dead
.All the villagers came to find out what all the noise was.
When
they found out that Mrs Poppy had killed the witch everyone was very happy
again.
As
a reward, the villagers gave the sweetshop to Mrs Poppy. They celebrated by
having a big party and all lived happily ever after.
