Slip and Slide

Aslippin’ and aslidin’………… Slip and Slide were twins………….not just any ‘twins’, no……slug twins….slow and slippery slugs…….just sluggish slugs. They liked to sleep all day long. One sleepy day, they decided to slowly slip and slide to Slovakia to visit some Slovak cousins. The cousins were slow-worms who lived in some sloe bushes in Slovakia. So Slip and Slide slipped and slid into a sleeping bag on a sleigh and off they slithered, hoping soon to slalom on the Slovak slopes.
In Slovakia, they met a sly Slav slavetrader with his left arm in a sling, who spoke slang and wanted to slam them with a sledgehammer………..but they slid up his sleeve so he slipped in the slushy snow and slashed his sloppy sleeping bag. Slip and Slide did not like the slush and sleet in Slovakia…………….besides, Slovak slugs were too slim and slender and, it could even be said, sleepless. So they slipped and slid back on to a sledge and slept among the sleighbells until it slackened its pace and slid slowly into Caroline Place in Weymouth. Slip and Slide slithered from the slippery sledge………… »What a slowcoach you are » slurred Slide to Slip ; « and you are a sleazy slyboots » said Slip to Slide. Slip slapped Slide very hard, first with a slate and then with a slab. After the slanging match, they slid onto a slice of sloppy lettuce to get some sleep.
In the slanted october sunshine in the garden in Caroline Place, Slip and Slide were slipping and sliding slowly into slumber……………..when suddenly…….with a horrific SLURP, Frank, the slick black cat from Caroline Place, slurrrrped up the slice of lettuce with one big slurp – and that was the end of Slip and Slide who no more would go slipping and sliding anywhere, let alone in Slovakia !
