Twinkle Twit
Twinkle Twit was the twistiest, bendiest dancer in the Twigford Troupe. She would twiddle her way around the stage twice as fast as the other dancers and twitch her head down to her toes in a magical manner which was the envy of her main rival - Girlie Twirl.
One day, whilst two-stepping with her leading man, Twinkle caught the twinkle in the eye of Lord Grant Twitchell who had chosen that evening to visit the ballet with his twin brother Phil. Grant and Phil were members of a very well known West End family who had their own TV show - Westenders and Twinkle couldn't help boasting to Girlie in the interval that she was sure an invitation to visit the set of Westenders was on its way.
Girlie threw the most awful tantrum at this news, stormed on the stage for the next scene in Swan Lake, tripped over her own toes, catapaulted over the orchestra who were just twiddling their violins ready for the grand finale, and landed smack bang between the two Twitchell brothers (but not in the most ladylike of ways it has to be said).
Phil took one look at Girlie, his eyes twinkled almost out of their sockets, and said:
"Girlie my dear, you look terrifyingly terrific tonight, do join Grant, Twinkle and I for a twiglet or two after the show"
Girlie painfully pulled her head from between the seats and accepted the invitation gracefully, but inside she was twisting up with rage as she wanted Grant not Phil and she laid her plans carefully.
The four made their way to the very trendy nightclub called Twingfellows and settled to nibble their twiglets. Girlie's plan started to unfold. The false twiglet she had sneaked into the bowl made it's way into Twinkle's mouth. The rubber snack twiddled and twisted in Twinkle's poor mouth and her face took on a most peculiar shape.
"What ho! Twinkler!" Grant exclaimed "You look frightfully strange you know!"
Twinkle could not reply. Her mouth bounced her gently out of the bar and into the street. The rubber twiglet carried her far away over hill and dale until a kindly Cossack (yes she bounced her way all the way to Russia) removed the offending article after which she became prima donna in the very famous Bolshoi Ballet.
Meanwhile, back at Twingfellows, Girlie was so overjoyed at her success she quite forgot that , as a back up plan, she had placed an exploding peanut in the dish and grabbed a handful and stuffed them in her mouth........
